Hisone is utilized for various conditions, including joint issues, severe allergic reactions, specific skin or eye disorders, certain blood/hormonal/immune system problems, ulcerative colitis, swelling, and the aggravation of multiple sclerosis. Hisone is a type of glucocorticoid hormone that reduces your body's natural defense response, alleviating symptoms like redness and swelling.
You should take Hisone orally with food or milk, typically 3 to 4 times a day or as prescribed by your physician. The dosage and treatment duration depend on your medical condition and how you respond to the therapy. It's important to take Hisone consistently to maximize its effectiveness. To aid your memory, try taking it at the same times every day. Continuation of this medication is essential even when you feel better. Adhere to the prescribed dosing schedule meticulously. Certain medications, like cholestyramine and colestipol, may hinder the absorption of Hisone; if you are on either of these, separate their intake from Hisone by at least 4 hours. If you're taking this medication once a day, take it in the morning before 9 AM.
If you're on a bi-daily schedule or an alternate regimen, marking your calendar with reminders might be beneficial. If you have been on Hisone for an extended period, do not abruptly discontinue without consulting your doctor, as doing so could worsen your condition. Your dosage may need to be gradually tapered to minimize withdrawal symptoms like extreme fatigue, weakness, weight loss, or nausea.
Hisone can lead to increased appetite, indigestion, or anxiety. Less commonly, it might cause excessive facial hair growth, muscle and bone pain, or vision issues. Contact your doctor if you notice sudden weight gain, swelling in the arms or legs, breathlessness, stomach discomfort, severe vomiting, dark or tarry stools, extreme fatigue, muscle weakness, or unusual mood changes. These side effects typically do not raise concerns if Hisone is taken for a brief period.
